Semi Accident Causes Power Outage in South Zanesville

Local News

More than 800 American Electric Power customers are without service in the South Zanesville area following a semi truck accident Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. on the Maysville Pike.

Initial reports indicate a semi truck was on Clay Street heading towards the Maysville intersection when the truck caught a low hanging power line, causing a pole to fall over on top of the truck.  After the pole collapsed over the truck, it then caused two other power line poles to collapse in front of the truck near the Maysville intersection.

Authorities say electricity is expected to  be restored  along the Maysville Pike at 7:00 p.m. However,  power isn’t expected to be restored to residents on Clay Street until approximately 1:00 a.m.
