In coordination with ‘Operation Feed’ the local postal service held its 24th Annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive on Saturday, May 14th.

Local postal workers picked up non-perishable food items donated from the public of Muskingum County.

“They deliver it out here to the fairgrounds for fifteen different food pantries and four hot meal programs. Those programs come here to the fair grounds and pick up the food that’s been delivered all day from people in Muskingum County,” said Tom Cover, President of the Muskingum Hunger Network.

Cover sad that the cold weather was nice during the food drive since previous years have been extremely hot and humid. He also said that he’s extremely satisfied with this years turn out and wants to thank everybody who contributed.

“We truly appreciate all the help from the people that donate non-perishable food items that were picked up by our local postal service. It truly helps those that are in need and its greatly appreciated by all the pantries and hot meal programs.”

The postal service will release the final number on the amount of food raised from the event later on next week.
