The Ohio State Highway Patrol Granville Post said an Ohio Trooper was released from the hospital following a crash involving a semi tractor-trailer early Tuesday.
Just before 9 a.m. Trooper Rodney Hart was investigating a one vehicle crash. A Ford Focus, driven by 23-year-old Shanice Parker of Zanesville, was disabled in the right lane on Interstate 70 east bound.
While Hart was interviewing Parker in his cruiser waiting for a wrecker to arrive on scene. The cruiser was struck by Eric Miller driving a semi truck. Miller had driven through a safety zone of flares, struck the cruiser, and continued off the road where he struck several trees and jack-knifed before coming to a rest on the side of the road.
Trooper Hart was transported to Licking Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Parker was taken by med-flight to OSU Medical Center. She is listed in stable condition. Miller was treated on scene. He is cited with failure to assure clear distance, failure to change lanes for a stationary safety vehicle, and driving a commercial vehicle with impaired alertness.
The crash remains under investigation.
