One local artist is receiving public recognition for his unique and creative talents.
Each month studio 202 show cases a local artist based off of their artistic abilities during the first Friday Art-Walk. This month’s featured artist is Stoey Stout, who creates Turkish Gourd Lamps inspired by a recent trip he took to Istanbul, turkey.
"While I was there one of the most interesting things for me were the Turkish lamp shops. I would just go in and stand and be mesmerized. I bought a few and brought them back to Zanesville, OH. I created a little inspiration corner in my basement or whatever you want to call it. I put my four lamps in there and thought, that is not enough lamps. Rather than order some on line from Turkey I thought maybe I can do this," said Stout.
We talked to Susan Stubbins who said this event is important because it gives the artist exposure and it allows them to able to give back to the arts community.
"It’s important I think for people to realize their contribution and how much is actually going on in the arts community" said Stubbins.
Stout’s Art-Work will be on display at studio 202 and Art Gallery, Friday from 5 p.m until 8 p.m.
