Jason Schaumleffel was sworn into office on Wednesday afternoon at Muskingum County Court House. Schaumleffel is joining the board during a time of position changes but is excited about what’s to come.
“It’s a very unique situation where we have three board members being replaced and also because we have a new perspective being brought to the board. We have union contracts and some Ohio credit plus issues coming up. We also have a lot of internal issues that need to be taken care of. It’s going to be challenging and a lot of responsibility, but I think we can handle it,†Schaumleffel said.
He said that this is just the beginning for him and that he plans on becoming more involved in the community in the years to come.
“In the long run I would like to be a County Administrator. I’d like to see myself stay in the county and help promote it. I really want to see this community grow and develop. That is my goal,†he said.
Soon Schaumleffel plans on visiting local high schools to talk to students about registering to vote and how to be more involved with their community’s government.
