One local organization took time to show appreciation to its volunteers with a special celebration.
Christ’s Table hosted its annual Christmas bash for all the ones who spend their free time to give back to the less fortunate. We spoke with volunteer Karen Smith who has been apart of the organization for the last two years, volunteering her time every other Thursday.
“We really appreciate coming here because it makes us appreciate what we have at home. There are a lot of people here that don’t have what we have. It helps us to appreciate what we do have and knowing that we are helping people that don’t have what we have,” said Smith.
We also spoke with volunteer Stephen Jones, and he told us the work he does with Christ’s Table is something he wanted to do his entire life.
“It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. It’s one of the few jobs I’ve had in my life, and I am retired. One of the few jobs that I really get a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment out of. I would recommend anybody that has a few extra hours a week to come down and volunteer,” said Jones.
