Zanesville Police Department said a man is under arrest after a three car injury accident just after 7 p.m. Aug. 12.

According to ZPD he will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and running a red light. 28 year old Dustin Shipley was driving his gray Ford F-250 west bound on Market Street when he ran a red light striking two cars headed south bound on 7th street. Sergeant Jon McCoy of the Zanesville Police Department explained more about the accident.

“The full size truck ran the red light which collided with the small SUV and the small Chevy car,” said McCoy. “The collision caused one vehicle to spin off which then collided with a building. That individual was transported to the Bethesda [Genesis] hospital with minor head injuries. The second vehicle, the female driver was treated on scene, [and] refused transportation to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle that ran the red light was not injured.”

Shipley also had one additional occupant who was not injured. Drivers of both vehicles struck were alone in the cars. The driver of the Chevy  was awake at the time of transportation. Shipley  was placed under arrest at the scene of the accident. The intersection was closed to thru traffic while the three vehicles were cleared.

Additionally, upon investigation of Shipley’s car, a hand gun was discovered under the driver’s seat. Shipley will be charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling.
