The Muskingum County Board of Elections swore in its new Executive Director today.
Timothy Thompson was recently appointed to serve as the new director. He officially began his duties this week, and said he’s most looking forward to leading the board through the upcoming election on November 3.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to be able to serve the county of Muskingum, and to serve the voters and help them to have a smooth election, so I’m excited about the opportunity to work and to move along quickly,” Thompson said.
Thompson is a former math teacher at Zanesville Christian School. Although he’s coming from outside the office, former Executive Director, Chris Hamill, said it was a privilege to pass him the torch.
“New advice I have is to start out slow and learn each step as you go, I know he can do it, I know he’ll fill that position well, just listen to his workers and they will help him out,” Hamill said.
The filing deadline for county petitions for the upcoming election is 4 p.m. on August 5, and the certification deadline for petitions is August 12.
