New Trucks for Zanesville Street Department

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – For the first time in 12 years, the City of Zanesville has purchased two new trucks with 11 foot stainless steel beds. Mayor Jeff Tilton and Street Superintendent, Jeff Shook, say the purchase of the trucks is part of a larger project of revamping the city’s equipment and making the street department more efficient.

New Program at Zane State

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – A two year online Information Assurance and Securities Strategies degree program has been added to the curriculum at Zane State College. Professor Barb Miller explained at the Noon Rotary Club of Zanesville on Tuesday that the college feels it is necessary to have skilled individuals defending against cyber attacks.

Annual Cake Auction for Carr Center

ZANESVILLE, OHIL (WHIZ) – The annual Carr Center Cake Auction is coming to Colony Square Mall on April 23rd and 24th. The deadline to register for the auction is this Friday. To register, you can contact the center at www.CarrCenter.Org.

Donations Needed For K-9 Unit

PERRY COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – The Perry County Sheriff’s Office wants to add a K-9 unit to their efforts to fight drugs and crime. Sheriff William Barker says in order for this to happen, it must be completely funded by donations from local businesses and the citizens of the county. If you would like to make a donation, checks can be made out to Perry County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Fund, in the memo line, write K-9 donation.

City Negotiates to Lease Property

ZANEVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – Columbia Gas has placed a bid with the City of Zanesville to lease the property at 1674 Fairview Road. Public Service Director, Jay Bennett, said the broker for Columbia Gas has submitted a proposal for a 10 year lease for $6,000 a month with two options to renew.
