The Perry County Sheriff’s Office wants to add a K-9 unit to their efforts to fight drugs and crime. Sheriff William Barker says having a canine officer would greatly enhance the department’s capability to detect illegal narcotics in the community and area schools. It would also increase the department’s effectiveness in apprehending criminals and conserving the peace. But the Sheriff says in order for this to happen it must be completely funded by donations from local businesses and the citizens of the county. Donations of necessary equipment and supplies are welcome as well. If you would like to make a donation checks can be made out to Perry County Sheriff’s Office K-9 fund. In the memo line write K-9 Donation.
