The Crooksville Chief of Police says a medical condition may have been to blame for the death of a woman on Washington Street.
Chief Rodney Walters says his department received a call from Good Sam Hospital around 9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening requesting police assistance regarding a deceased woman with suspicious bruises. She is identified as 26-year-old Kayla Barnett
According to Walters, “At that point, there were some questions. I believe the woman actually had a genetic condition, where she did bruise. We found that out. And she had a lot of medical problems.”
Walters says the Bureau of Criminal investigation was called to ensure that no details slipped through the cracks.
“Just the circumstances and of course a lot of that may be attributed to what was going on with the bruising. Which may be a part of her medical history.”
Barnett, was transported to the hospital Tuesday evening by Crooksville EMS. Perry County Sheriffs Deputies were also at the scene.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is in charge of the case. Public Information Officer Jill Delgreco says they are calling it a questionable death and at this point there is not clear cut cause. The incident remains under investigation.
