Local News

In 2014 Dr. Ruth Freideman Stein was inducted into the Zanesville High School Hall of Fame. Unable to attend the induction ceremony, Friday she viewed her photo on the wall for the very first time

After graduating from Zanesville High School in 1961 Dr. Ruth attended The Ohio State University. However, her pursuit of higher education didn’t end there.

“We moved to Syracuse, New York in 1967 and I became an English teach there. Then I taught there for ten years and then I served on the Syracuse Board of Education.”

After having two children Dr. Ruth went back to school to earn her PHD at Syracuse University where she was then a professor for 25 years, and even after retirement she still works part time as a professor in Syracuse. Ruth says to be inducted into the ZHS Hall of Fame by her Alma Mater is a huge honor.

“It’s keeping me awake at night as I think about all the memories from high school and living here and what it was like to grow up here and what a wonderful town Zanesville is.”

Congratulations to Dr. Ruth Freideman Stein, and the seven 2015 Zanesville High School Hall of Fame inductees will be announced May 9th in the Zanesville High School cafatorium.
