The much anticipated holiday season is rapidly approaching. Most of you are probably excited about seeing family and friends, but that delicious holiday food could mean problems for your waistline.
The average person gains five pounds during the holiday season. Foods like stuffing and mashed potatoes are only part of the problem, empty calories hide in those long awaited holiday beverages like eggnog, and the seasonal favorite pumpkin spice latte.
There are easy steps you can take to help keep those pounds off. For example, make an extra lap around the mall before you begin your holiday shopping, and parking your car further away in the parking lot, every step helps. There are even things you can do while cooking to limit food intake.
Exercise specialist from the Muskingum Recreation Center, Meghan Green told us, "A fun tip that’s easy to remember is putting gum in your mouth while you’re baking, it kind of distracts your mouth while you’re cooking."
The average stick of sugar-free gum only contains five calories, so this holiday season make the commitment to not over indulge and stay healthy.
