Early Voting Begins Tuesday

There is just under a month left until the general election, but you don’t have to wait until November to vote.

The deadline to register is Monday at 9:00 p.m. And all of Ohio’s county board of elections’ are open late Monday. Director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections, Chris Hamill said there are several people still coming in to register Monday.

"If you wish to be registered in the state of Ohio you must be registered to vote by 9:00 p.m. tonight. So you may come to our office and register to vote."

Registration ends Monday, but the election officially gets underway Tuesday. Starting Tuesday you can visit the board of elections and cast your ballot or call to request an absentee one. If you have already submitted for an absentee ballot it will be sent out Tuesday as well.

"Tomorrow is the first day of voting. We do have extended hours. We will be open from eight to five. You may come to our office. You may vote in our office or you can call our office and request an absentee ballot."

Hamill said the Muskingum County Board of Elections will be sending out 3,000 absentee ballots tomorrow. The board of elections will be open on a few weekends through October to be more accessible to people.

It will be open; Saturday, October 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as well and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. November 2.
