Barn Fire in Washington Twp

Local News

The Washington Township Fire Department said they battled a barn fire Sunday afternoon.

The department got the call just before 4:30p.m. for a fire on the Cameron Property at 3995 Northfield Road.

Fire Chief Gene Hanning said when crews arrived about 45 round hay bales were on fire. The fire and heat had gotten into the bales which needed torn apart in order to put out the flames.

Chief Hanning said though it took crews from Washington and Perry Townships until 10:30pm to clear the scene the barn didn’t suffer any damage and no one was injured.

The property owners also helped to tear apart the bales so crews could get the fire out.

The fire remains under investigation, but Chief Hanning doesn’t believe it’s suspicious.
