Despite the heat, adults and children of all ages participated in the 14th Thorndunker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, which is held every year in downtown Thornville. Just like many other 3-on-3 tournaments conducted in the summer, the ultimate goal is raising money, and in this instance, it is scholarship money for deserving seniors at Sheridan High School. There were 62 teams in the event this year and considering the recent weather related issues, local businesses got a much needed boost from participants and their families, as they purchased water and food to help stay cool. By next year, Thorndunker Committee Chairman John Ulmer is hoping to have at least 75 teams participate, which would help expand the number and possibly the amount of scholarship money given out to seniors.
