A Zanesville hair salon is helping a little girl with spina bifida receive the care that she needs.
Jessica McCulloch brought her three-year-old daughter Ava to China last year for umbilical-derived stem cell treatments. Ava’s doctors were surprised by her immediate progress.
"After she received the treatments, Ava’s doctors confirmed that she gained function of her hamstring, and her urologist confirmed that her bladder is holding more before having a spasm," said McCulloch.
The McCulloch Family is trying to return to China so Ava can undergo further treatment. Owner of Fabulous Styles & Cuts Tia Patterson said the salon is holding a clip-a-thon to raise money and awareness.
"It’s amazing," said Patterson. "It’s definitely God’s blessing. I think it’s just a really great thing to see everyone come together for her."
The clip-a-thon will take place on April 15th from 1 to 5 p.m. at Fabulous Styles & Cuts on Maple Avenue next to Goodwill. All proceeds from hair cuts, raffles and a bake sale will benefit Ava’s trip to China.
