Sheridan 50 Maysville 53

In the marquee game on the MVL slate, Seth Brown hit the game winning three as time expired as Maysville was able to get a hard earned three point win.  After a tough start to the season, the Panthers found their stride late, going four of five from three in the final frame.  The Generals trailed by as many as six with under three minutes to go before tying it up at 50 and setting up Brown’s final shot.  Bryce Sidwell led the balanced Panther attack with 14 points in the win.  Brown had 10 points.  Matthew Freville led the Generals with 19 points in the loss.  Jacob Horsley also had 13.  Both teams return to action on Friday as the Generals host John Glenn while Maysville travels to Morgan.

Zanesville 53 Newark 48

It wasn’t pretty coming down the stretch but some how the Lady Blue Devils were able to stay unbeaten and get a key win over Newark. Zanesville trailed by three after the first quarter but then went on a 10-0 run to gain control and never looked back. Kailee Howe paced Zanesville with 16 points while sister Kenzi chipped in with 11 and Madison Hardwick added 12 points. Leading the effort for Newark was Maggie Mitchell who dropped 16 points and Paige Cashin had 14 points before injuring her ankle.
