Nuns for Packers

Local News

The Superbowl is only a few days away and some local nuns are among the Green Bay Packers fans ready for the big game.

The Franciscan Sisters of Genesis Healthcare System in Zanesville are rooting for their favorite team. Their headquarters is based out of Wisconsin.

"Besides our whole focus on God and prayer, and serving others in our life, there’s also this focus on fun, and so when you have that focus as well, it just melts you all the more together," said Sister Bernadette Salinksy.

Sister Bernadette said they don’t actually pray for the Packers to win because there are bigger things to be praying for, but they will be cheering for them with everything they’ve got.

"I do plan to wear a shirt that says six days God created the heavens and the earth, and on the back side of the shirt, it says on the seventh day he watched Green Bay win, and it was good. I think that says it all," she said.

She said while she can’t predict the score of the game, she knows that it’s going to be an interesting match-up. The Packers will be playing the Steelers on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
