The Red Cross is asking you to take time out of your busy holiday schedule to donate blood.
45 people scheduled appointments on Friday to donate at a blood drive set-up inside Colony Square Mall. The Red Cross is always emphasizing its need for blood. WHIZ spoke to a few residents about why donating is important to them.
"To help out people, there’s going to be accidents and that, and people are going to need blood, it’s basically to help them out," said Robert Walker.
Walker said he donates every chance he can get. According to the Red Cross every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. One donation can save up to three lives.
"There’s a lot of accidents and stuff during the holidays and stuff and I just feel that I’m helping someone out," said Dennis Roberts.
Another blood drive will be held at Trinity United Presbytarian Church on Military Road in Zanesville next Monday from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
