A tiara is on the minds of several young women in our area.
Next weekend is the Miss Southeastern Ohio Teen Pageant. To get ready, the young ladies competing gathered Saturday afternoon at the Muskingum County Welcome Center for pageant orientation and tips from pageant director, Vicki LeVeck.
"So basically just easing their nerves because some of them haven’t even done a pageant and this is a great stepping stone to get more involved," says Sierra Moore, Miss Southeastern Ohio Teen 2009.
Moore’s advice to contestants to be their "best self" and always smile and be professional. Fifty percent of the score is interview and community service. Moore’s platform last year was the American Red Cross. She says winning Miss Southeastern Ohio Teen was an honor.
"Your representing the program, so at all times you need to be on you best behavior, so many girls look up to you, I know some of them are just like, ‘Oh Ii would love to represent the program’ and it really is a great honor," says Moore.
The pageant will be held next Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Muskingum County Welcome Center. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the Muskingum County Welcome Center or Jillian’s. Moore says she hopes to see a big crowd and the pageant will be over before the Superbowl begins.
