Starlight School is continuing to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a second celebration, held tonight.

Students, faculty, loved ones, and even some local and state representatives gathered for a cookout, some carnival games, an art display, and a night of dancing.

Starlight Schools Administrative Services Director, Kathy Smith, says the dance was supposed to be held outside along with an official lighting of the miracle league field, but rain forced everything inside.

The public was also invited to join in for an open house.

“We were pleased to have everyone come out and join us to see what we do, ” says Smith.

Smith says she hopes Starlight School will have another great 50 years ahead of it.

“Just to continue to improve and to add services that our individuals want, ” says Smith.

Starlight School initially started back in 1959.
