Christmas may be three months away, but local Girl Scouts are sending Christmas cheer abroad.
Cards covered in stickers and glitter are being sent via Operation Spirit to troops stationed overseas. The 500 cards hold messages thanking troops for their service or saying “We Love You”. The cards will accompany care packages and the 200 Christmas stockings the girl scouts also decorated.
Pittman believes it is never to early to teach children about community service. The patriotic message was not lost on the young girl scouts.
“It makes me proud to be an American for doing what I believe in,” tells Girl Scout Autumn Agnew.
Girl Scout troops from Newark, New Concord and Zanesville all participated in the event.
