Greenwings Set for Saturday

Local News

Local children have the chance to experience a variety of outdoor activities this Saturday at the Dillon Sportsman Center in Nashport.

The annual Greenwing event hosted by the Zanesville chapter of Ducks Unlimited gives kids 17 and under the chance to learn about conservation, gun and hunting safety, while getting hands-on experience in trap shooting and archery.

“It’s a good time for the kids to get involved because it will teach them about the outdoors. So many times kids are stuck inside playing video games, this is a chance to get them outside, get them involved in wildlife the outdoors,” says Ben Whitacre, Ducks Unlimited.

If your child does not have experience with these outdoor activities, organizers say it’s not a problem.

“We’ll have plenty of volunteers out there like myself, providing assistance and helping them learn about the Ducks Unlimited and about the Greenwing program and about the outdoors, so even if you have no experience what-so-ever don’t be shy come on out,” says Whitacre.

Registration begins at 10:30 and the event runs from 12 until 3 p.m. The cost is $20 per child and everyone who participates will receive a prize at the end of the day.
