Opportunity Center Needs Stylists Help

Local News

If you’re a licensed cosmetologist the Muskingum County Opportunity Center needs your help to get local workers ready to get back to work.

On Tuesday September 29th, with help from Mid-East Career and Technology Center cosmetology students, the Opportunity Center will offer free makeovers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for dislocated workers.

They are still in need of experienced stylists to volunteer to help with the makeovers.

“I’d like to appeal to the good people of Zanesville who are always good about volunteering their time to do community service things, but they do have to be a licensed cosmetologist, not barber’s license, it has to be licensed and they need
to bring their license that day,” says Justy Cordray, program coordinator Y-City Style Network.

There are still spots open for unemployed women and men who want a free makeover. They can get a manicure, make-up and a hair-cut and style.

Cordray says looking good and feeling confident is important to landing a new job.

“If you’re not putting your best effort forward and you don’t look like you’ve come prepared with a nice resume and a nice look where you’re kind of neat and tidy I think that it does make an impression that you can’t ever take back, so you always want to make sure that you put your best foot forward,” she says.

If you are a licensed cosmetologist who would like to volunteer your time or a dislocated worker who is interested in a makeover contact the Muskingum County Opportunity Center at (740) 454-6211.
