Local News

The dreaded tax season may be months away, but the IRS has a new program to help you with your taxes.

The Internal Revenue Service launched a line of videos on YouTube to help answer frequently asked questions when it comes to your taxes.

“What we’re trying to do is we know that social media is a new way where people are getting a lot of information,” said Erickson. “There are so many new things out there, that is impacting a lot of people. We’ve created little videos and posted them to YouTube.”

Erickson says the IRS has seen a good response from the service. He says several thousand people have already looked at the videos.

“They’re on a wide variety of topics to give people another way to get that information that’s going to help them,” he said.

Erickson says the videos are in English, Spanish, American Sign Language and other languages.

He says the IRS has also launched a line of pod casts on itunes to help tax payers.
