1 Dead After Head-On Collision

The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says it is investigating a fatal crash that happened on Ohio 79 Sunday afternoon.

It happened a little north of the Licking County line just before 6 p.m.

Sergeant Jeremy Mendenhall says two vehicles crashed head on, injuring four people.

He says 60-year-old Jay Kaufman of Warsaw and his wife, 69-year-old Sue Kaufman, were traveling northbound on Ohio 79.

59-year-old Larry Hunt of Warsaw and his wife, 58-year-old Joanne Hunt, were traveling southbound on Ohio 79.

Mendenhall says Sue Kaufman was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries, and he says her husband, Jay, was transported to OSU Medical Center with serious injuries.

Mendenhall says Larry Hunt was injured but refused treatment, and his wife, Joanne, suffered a broken toe or foot.

The cause of the accident still remains under investigation.
