Unrelated Burglaries at Two Businesses

Local News

The Zanesville Police Department responded to multiple burglaries at businesses early Tuesday morning.

The first occurred around 1 a.m. at the Graham Boyer Insurance Agency on West Main Street. An alarm alerted police and they were able to catch the suspect after a short chase.

“When the officers started responding to that scene one of our officers noticed an individual in the area and the subject took off on foot on him, so the officer began pursuing him. When he was caught he did have some items on his possession that came from inside Graham Boyer,” says Det. Sgt. Ric Roush.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and is being held at the Zanesville City Jail.

Also, around 4:45 Tuesday morning the ZPD was alerted by alarm to an unrelated burglary at the Walgreens on the corner of Military Road and Maple Avenue.

Security footage caught two men with black clothes and masks using a crowbar to pry open the front door.

Det. Sgt. Roush says it appears the suspects were looking for drugs.

“What they found there was that the business had been broken into and a large amount of medication taken from the pharmacy area of the store.”

The Zanesville Police is asking anyone with information about the Walgreens burglary to contact them at 455-0700.
