A national player in the Republican party against President Obama’s health care reform plan made a stop in Zanesville today.
Michael Steele, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, spoke to a crowded room at Balderson Motors today.
“Michael came here today to talk to small business owners about the health care and the issues that we face as small business owners. When they called and contacted me being a state legislator, but also being a small business owner, we are the backbone, we provide 70% of the jobs in Ohio. So most of the people that are here today are small business owners and they are just trying to understand and comprehend the health care reform,” tells State Representative Troy Balderson.
Steele says the health care plan of President Obama and Democrats is an “experiment” that he says will cost trillions of dollars. Balderson says Repbulicans just want the Democrats to slow down.
“They want the public option out for sure, we know there is a reform issue that needs to be taken care of because of the cost of health care, but we basically want the government right now just to stop so we can all sit down together and not have a dominant power and discuss the issue put on the table….But plan wise I they want to put a stop to it right now so we can talk about it as a bipartisan issue,” says State Rep. Balderson.
Seth Bringman the Communications Director for the Ohio Democratic party sent WHIZ a response saying quote,”Michael Steele has shown he has absolutely no credibility when it comes to health insurance reform and Congressman Space is working tirelessly to make sure every Ohioan has access to quality, affordable health care.”
