There also is a new reigning Junior Fair Queen at the Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair.
Out of three contestants aiming for the title and the crown, Alaina Kirkbride was named the winner.
“I’m really excited, glad, nervous…gotta give a speech in a few, ” says Kirkbride.
She says she’s been coming to the fair since she was a kid, and she says her favorite part of the fair is the pig barn, which is where she shows pigs from her own farm as a part of the 4-H program.
She spoke to a packed crowd in the Grand Stands.
“Inviting everyone to come back to the fair, welcome everyone to the fair, congratulate the exhibitors for getting their projects here, and wishing them luck at the fair along with all the festivities that it includes, ” says Kirkbride.
Kirkbride says she plans to talk to younger kids this week about trying to get involved in 4-H. She says she wants to find out why they don’t participate and how to get them more involved.
