Legislators Meet with Chamber

Local business owners had a chance to talk face-to-face with state legislators this morning.

Around 135 people attended the annual Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce breakfast at Eaglesticks. Featured speakers were State Senator Jimmy Stewart and State Representative Troy Balderson.

“Chamber’s members can interact with state legislators and a lot of good information today from Sen. Stewart and Rep. Balderson and chamber members were able to talk about issues that are of concern to them like taxation and worker’s comp and so on and it’s clear that we’re very well represented in Columbus and the business community really appreciates that,” says Tom Poorman, president Chamber of Commerce.

Rep. Balderson spoke to the crowd about worker’s compensation.

“I felt that was important to this crowd. This is a chamber and most of the people in this room are small business owners and worker’s comp is one of the top three things that affect business in the state of Ohio,” says Balderson, 94th District State Representative.

Balderson says the event is important, because it brings business leaders together in one spot and allows them to speak with their legislators and voice their individual concerns.
