As kids around the area get ready to head back to school, they’ll also lace up some new kicks.
The United Way of Perry, Muskingum, and Morgan counties along with Wendy’s and WHIZ are still collecting shoes for this year’s Lace Up for Kids shoe drive.
To help make sure that each child has a pair of shoes that fit, the United Way has created a new component to this year’s drive.
“Offer several dates throughout the summer where parents can come with their children and submit their registration form and have their child sized so that insures that the child is going to get the right size shoe,” said Meg Deedrick executive director of the United Way.
The next sizing day is this Friday August 7 from 10am-3pm at the Zanesville Civic League.
Deedrick says they’ll will continue to accept applications after that date and for those looking to still donate all shoe sizes are needed.
“What we find also help is if people aren’t sure what sizes to donate and things of that sort, then can donate money and we can buy shoes with that,” said Deedrick.
Lace Up for Kids distribution day will take place on August 21st at the Zanesville Civic League. Anyone with questions is encouraged to call the United Way or 211.
