An overnight fire alarm going off in the village of Dresden is a false alarm.
Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says his office was alerted of the alarm around 4:45 a.m. this morning. He says it was the Dresden fire department’s building alarm.
“We basically dispatched Dresden Fire Department/Frazysburg Fire Department to let them know that the alarm had been activated in case they had some issues there with their building. Dresden responded, got to the scene, looked and checked their building out, and realized there wasn’t anything going on, ” says Lutz.
Lutz says he wants to assure the Dresden community that everything is o-k.
“If you look back over our logs between burglar alarms and fire alarms, we have trouble with those all the time, and it’s a common practice for us to answer those. So, no reason at all to be concerned about anything, ” says Lutz.
Lutz says it’s possible for alarms to be triggered by storms or heat.
