A drug bust on Monday afternoon recovers more than $50,000 worth of contraband.
Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says his deputies, along with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency seized 6 to 8 pounds of processed marijuana along with other items.
“Lt. Fisher brought our canine, Zero, out and did a sniff on the door and got extra probable cause for the search warrant,” said Lutz. “We executed the warrant and recovered several items used in a growing operation.”
Lutz says they recovered botanical chemicals and an array of grow lights, power supply units and blower fans and more than $14,000 in cash.
“This thing here, I think, they were probably between grow houses,” he said. “They were storing the stuff, probably frequenting it with the money and the processed marijuana there. But today nothing surprises us and we’re not surprised to find it anywhere.”
Lutz says they have one person in custody, but will not release the name until charges are officially filed.
