Hundreds came out to support a local man battling cancer.
Family and friends put together a country music show and auction to help pay for the medical expenses of Marvin Wheeler. Marvin is the former fire chief of Frazeyburg, Ohio.
“He is always volunteering for different things if someone needs him he is right there to help them no matter what, he will drop what he is doing and give up himself. That is what type of person he is and he not only was a fire chief volunteer… his children are EMTs, his wife is an EMT, you know, with the fire departments his family just gets involved and rallies around him,” tells Helena Sylvia Wheeler, Marvin’s sister-in-law.
Today’s benefit featured an auction, country concert and raffle. Family says his cancer is incurable, but the donations from the community and pipe liners are overwhelming.
“We went for donations for the auction and the door prizes and they just keep giving. Even after we got here people keep bringing more things and it has just been wonderful and even the people that work on the pipelines you would not believe how well they have been,” says Mrs. Wheeler.
The Wheeler family wants to thank everyone who attended the event today and has sent donations. To make a donation for Marvin Wheeler send a check to:
