Benefit Helps Family of Debbie Caldwell

Local News

The family of a local woman who passed away from cancer last week is hoping to raise money for her medical expenses. The family of Debbie Donahue Caldwell incurred medical and travel expenses while Debbie battled renal cancer. Today, friends and family held a yard sale, spaghetti luncheon and auction to help raise money. Friends say the amount of support from the community and Debbie’s co-workers was overwhelming.

“It restores your faith in mankind. It is really not a me society, it is a community and we care for each other,” tells Belinda Valentine, a friend of Debbie.

Debbie graduated from Philo High School in 1981 and drove the Z Bus for 5 years. She has three children and friends say she was always smiling.

“She always had a smile on her face, no matter how bad it got, even if she was crying she had a smile on her face. “

The yard sale was held at the 637 Teamsters Local from 8am-4pm.
