Accident Sends 7 to Hospital

The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that sent seven to the hospital yesterday afternoon.

It happened around 3 p.m. on Raccoon Valley Road.

The Granville Post says three Granville teenagers were traveling westbound on County Road 539, when the driver, 16-year-old Grayson Carlson, drove off the right side of the road, over-corrected, went over the center line, and hit another vehicle head-on, carrying two adults and two children.

Carlson and 17-year-old passenger James Datz were taken to Licking Memorial Hospital. The other passenger, 16-year-old Alastair Steyn, was taken by ambulance to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

The driver of the second vehicle, 40-year-old David Dickerson, of Michigan, and passenger 41-year-old Julie Dickerson were Med-Flighted to Grant Medical Center. The two children were taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
