United We Serve Initiative

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is asking you to be a part of a new national initiative.

President Obama and his wife Michelle kicked of United We Serve, which is a program started this summer to get more volunteers across the country.

“We at the Red Cross saw this as an opportunity to join on the bandwagon,” said Dan Hartman of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross. “We ask volunteers to think about how they can volunteer through the red cross through the united we serve efforts.”

Hartman says there are many ways to help–donating blood, participating in disaster relief projects and joining CPR classes.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s a military family, a disaster family, someone that’s received blood that is passed on to our volunteers and staff because we all feel good about what we do,” he said. “That’s what keeps us going in these jobs.”

Hartman says he hopes this initiative will help raise awareness for the red cross and other volunteer programs.
