Prices seem to be rising everywhere you look, and the same is now true for trash collection in the state of Ohio.
The new state budget is raising the cost of dumping garbage throughout the state. The fee will increase by $1.25 on Saturday. Public Service Director Mike Sims says it shouldn’t change city rates just yet.
“At this point there aren’t any thoughts on raising anyone’s sanitation rates or anything like that at least at this time,” said Sims. “We’ll just have to deal with it the best we can.”
While Columbus will see an increase of $300,000, Zanesville will only see a $14,000 increase.
Sims says though, that because this has taken effect mid-year, there will only be a $7,000 increase for 2009.
