Local News

Bring out the lawn chairs and blankets for Zanesville’s version of Woodstock.

Tomorrow at the old Armco Park the first ever Zanestock will have 10 different bands from around the area competing for the title of champion of the battle of the bands.

“They play at different venues and make money for each other,” said coordinator Elaine Joseph. “They play at places for fundraisers, such as Relay for the Cause in Cambridge. Local kids who want to take a special trip, they might play a church to raise money for them. They do a lot of great things and they work really hard.”

The bands will play everything from rock to pop, and punk to alternative. Joseph says spectators will get to help decide who the winner is.

“The audience gets to participate by voting for their favorite band with their $5 entry ticket,” she said. “We will also have a panel of judges, which the musicians love to hear, because they want the popular vote, but to know from judges to rate their musician ship.”

Zanestock will take place tomorrow at the pavilion at Park Central/Armco Park from 4 p.m. To 10 p.m.

There is a $5 cover.

The Zanesville Y Piranhas, the Snow Shack, Chipotle and Starbucks will provide food.
