One local volleyball team is getting a jump on their season.
The Zanesville Lady Devils’ volleyball team held a camp this week to prepare them for tryouts coming up in August.
“It’s just to refresh their skill and hopefully improve their skills, so we’re not too far behind when the season starts,” said Coach Sue Loader. “We work on passing, setting, hitting, serving, defense everything that’s involved in a volleyball game.”
Loader says the team learns the skills through a combination of fun and hard work.
“We try to have fun,” she said. “Usually the last day we do fun activities that are needed for volleyball. We had to work on some thing too, but they still got to have fun.”
The team also learned about nutrition, which Loader says is key to a good volleyball player.
After the team’s camp in the morning, they helped to facilitate a camp for 8 to 12 year olds around the county.
