Kellogg’s wants everyone in the area to hit the road tomorrow and help out a good cause.
The “Kellogg’s 5-K Road Race and 1 mile Fun Walk” will take place tomorrow on Fairview Road in Zanesville at 9 a.m. Participants can start to register at 7:15 and their $10 registration fee will go to help Christ’s Table. The executive director of Christ’s Table says she hopes there’s a big crowd.
“They had over 100 racers already signed up, so that’s better than it was last year at this time, so we’re excited and we’re just really very gracious that a corporation has stepped up and their employees have stepped up to help,” says Gretchen Sayre.
Last year’s race raised $3,000 for Christ’s Table. The charity has recently had an influx of clients due to the economy and the proceeds will help them to continue to provide meals.
“I will tell you that last month we served over 9,000 meals and we’re seeing a big increase. Funds just don’t come in this time of year, so this is very important for us,” says Sayre.
All race participants will receive a free t-shirt. After the race there will be a Barbecue cookout.
