Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Steve Mahl says a Westerville man is being held in the Licking County Jail after a high speed chase Monday night.
Mahl says a police cruiser began following 29-year-old Andrew Compton after he failed to stop before turning onto Beech Road in Jersey Township. Mahl says the patrolman had his lights and sirens on, trying to pull Compton over. He says Compton continued driving and preceded to ignore several traffic lights and stop signs before the patrolman lost sight of Compton.
Mahl says the patrolman recorded Compton’s top speed at over 100 mph.
With the help of a local resident, Mahl says authorities were eventually able to locate Compton and his car. He says after using canines to search the premises, Compton came out and surrendered.
