The Muskingum County Library System today announced a round of cuts to deal with a reduction in revenue from the state.
Customer Service and Public Relations Manager Blair Tom says there will be no raises for library associates in 2009, many positions are not being filled as they are vacated and a one week furlough will take place at all six Muskingum County public libraries August 16th to August 23rd.
Tom also says 4 people will be laid off and 12 employees will have their work hours reduced.
Tom says the John McIntire Library will open one hour later starting August 24th and the five branches will no longer have Saturday hours.
The moves are in response to a 20 % reduction in revenue from the Public Library Fund and an additional 11 % cut in library funding in the current state budget.
