Help Eastside “Stuff the Bus”

Local News

Eastside Community Ministry and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 need your help to “Stuff the Bus.”

The two organizations are teaming up Friday and Saturday to provide local children a bit of help before the school year kicks off.

“What we do is provide needy children with a backpack which is packed with supplies for their school, their grade and teacher,” said Executive Director Bob Davidson. “When they walk into school they have the supplies they need to start the year.”

Davidson says the groups have been working together for the last six years and hope to help hundreds.

“800 is our target,” he said. “In the past we’ve done more, we did a little over 850. We’re probably going to be in that range again when all is said and done.”

If you would like to help stuff the bus, the groups will be at the South Walmart Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday they will be at the North Walmart from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
