More than 30,000 people are expected to head through the gates this week at the 2009 Perry County Fair.
Board members say they expect the $7 ticket price and convenience of the fairgrounds in New Lexington will attract a lot of fair-goers because of the economy.
“Actually I think it actually helps the local fairs better because people stay close to home, they don’t have to travel far and it’s good entertainment that doesn’t cost a lot of money,” says Chad Weingardner, board member.
The $7 ticket price includes all mechanical rides and events. Highlights of this year’s fair include a performance Friday at 8:30 by country artist Bryan Lewis, a tractor-truck pull Saturday at 5:30 and a new children’s attraction with performances daily.
“One of the children’s exhibits this year is Wambolds menagerie which they have camels and tigers and dogs and they have a show everyday at twelve, three and seven,” says Weingardner.
The fair wraps up on Saturday night.
