A new litter of puppies made its way to the animal shelter in Muskingum County.
The litter is just eight weeks old, but old enough to adopt, according to shelter Executive Director Larry Hostetler.
“They are sharpie-lab mixes,” said Hostetler. “Some of them have more wrinkles on their foreheads, but they’re pretty cute. Most of them are this color. We have a whole litter of 11 out here and they’ll be up for adoption soon.”
Hostetler says although the puppies are small now, they will grow.
“It’s going to be a larger dog, probably 40-50 pounds. It’s a shorter coat, easier to maintain, but even with shorter coats you’ll have shedding,” he said. “It’s really something that’s good for an active lifestyle.”
Hostetler says if you’re interested in adopting these or any puppies, you need to puppy-proof your home.
He says to proof it the same way you might for a small child. Look out for things on the floor and electrical cords.
He also suggest crating until you can trust the dog in your home.
