Newark Woman Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter

A Newark woman made a plea yesterday in the stabbing death of her live-in-boyfriend.

43-year-old Tina Bateman pled guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter in the February 2008 killing of Robert Mumford.

Around 4 a.m. on February 4, 2008 Newark Police were called to the couples apartment at 108 Moull Street. There they found Mumford had been stabbed several times in his upper torso, he later died.

Bateman now faces up to 10 years for his death. She is currently in the Licking County Jail on $500,000 bond.

She’ll appear for sentencing July 6 in Common Pleas Court.
