July 4th Tea Party Protest

The Fourth of July is filled with red, white, and blue. They’re the colors on our flag, symbolizing the 13 original colonies that have now grown into 50 states, governed by democracy.

It’s a government that prides itself as being a government “by the people and for the people, ” but some people aren’t happy with how the government is handling certain issues.

So, they gathered today in different cities throughout the country to protest, including right here in Zanesville.

“Angry and fet up. Stop the spending. You just look around at the different posters, and you’ll understand, ” says Kay Clymer.

Clymer is the organizer of Zanesville’s July Fourth Tea Party, which was held at Putnam Landing.

She says conservatives are becoming more vocal, and they want the government to know that they aren’t going to take it anymore.

“We need to become activists. So, we need to call our Congressmen, our Senators, our Representatives, and say, ‘No, we don’t want you voting that way, or yes, we want you to vote that way,’ ” says Clymer.

Clymer says to do that, we need to learn all we can about issues. That’s why there were several speakers at the event, talking about abortion, the fairness doctrine, the flat tax, and health care.
