If you couldn’t get enough of the Zanesville Gus Macker Tournament, you can head to Cambridge this weekend to get more of the three-on-three basketball tournament.
The Cambridge Gus Macker Tournament kicks off tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the Cambridge City Park.
“We’re right around 300 teams. We’re down a few teams from last year, but it’s pretty, we’d like to be at about 350, so we’re pretty happy with where were at and every thing’s going real well. So we’re excited for another family fun weekend here at our Cambridge Parks,” says Jeff Ferguson, Facilities Coordinator Cambridge City Parks.
The tournament has raised more than $200,000 in the last nine years for the parks system. They’ve used that money to make improvements to things like the walking trail and Little League lighting.
Ferguson says the money is just an added bonus.
“As many people as it brings into our parks, the money that we make is just a bonus because we get the hotels are filled the restaurants are full and you know we’ve got 10,000 people in our parks enjoying our park,” he says.
Gus Macker will run all day Saturday and Sunday. The dunk competition will be Saturday at 6:30 and contestants are still welcome to participate.
